Meet The Doctors

M. Joel Morse, DPM

Dr. Morse is a native of the Maryland area. He went to Paint Branch High School and on to Vassar College for a degree in Liberal Arts (Biology). He attended the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine at Temple University and graduated in 1989. Dr. Morse pursued post-graduate training in podiatric surgery and diabetic foot care by attending the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Residency program in New Jersey.

Board Certified

Dr. Morse is Board certified in Podiatric Surgery and Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He has practiced in Washington DC since 1991. He is on staff at Sibley Memorial Hospital 0 a Hopkins Hospital and Washington Hospital Center. He is actively involved with the Podiatric Surgical Residency at that hospital. He is also on staff at Providence Hospital in Northeast Washington as well as the Burkland Surgery Center in Wheaton, Maryland for most elective surgery. He is Board certified by:

  • American Society of Podiatric Surgeons

Dr. Morse is the president of the American Society Foot and Ankle Dermatology ( asfaderm.org) (www.dermfoot.com) which strives to educate students, residents, and physicians on all skin and nail related diseases of the foot. He has published widely on many topics to include: diabetic foot care, sports medicine, vascular disease, and skin diseases. He maintains his close association with academic and professional communities to keep abreast of the latest advances in the field. He belongs to the following professional organizations:

  • American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedists
  • American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
  • American Society of Podiatric Dermatology

Dr. Morse specializes in diabetic foot care and wounds of the lower extremity. He pursued additional training at Joslin Center for Diabetes.

Dr. Morse can see patients for a wide range of problems including bunions and hammertoes, neuromas, ingrown nails, mycotic nails, ulcers, infections, and foot trauma. Oh, and he will also see you for plain old tired feet!

Selin S. Ruggieri, DPM, AACFAS

Dr. Ruggieri is originally from the Philadelphia area. She received a dual degree in Neuroscience and French at Temple University Honors Program. She attended Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and graduated in 2019. Dr. Ruggieri completed her post-graduate training in the Yale New Haven System at Bridgeport Hospital as Chief Resident. During her training, she served as President of the Resident and Fellow Forum. She pursued additional training at the Bako dermatopathology fellowship during July 2022.

Dr. Ruggieri specializes in sports medicine/trauma, wound care, diabetic foot and Charcot deformity, and other foot and limb deformities.

Dr. Ruggieri is a member of the APMA as well as the DC Podiatric Medical Association, where she serves as the CAC representative. In addition, she is a member and Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is recently board qualified by the American board of foot and ankle surgeons. She is also Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine by ABPM.
